Flogger Leathers

Lambskin/Chamois

Lambskin is one of the softest, most sensual of all leathers.  It has an exotic leather smell that will help set the mood in any scene.  Makes the best all over body flogging that you’ll not have to worry about leaving marks or welts.

Deerskin

Deerskin is a very sensuous, lightweight leather that is great for warm ups.  This is an excellent material for someone just starting out.  Deer is an extremely soft, pliable and “stretchy” leather with a distinctive aroma and a texture ranging from moderately dry to slightly oily. It is velvety smooth when dragged across the skin, and will not cut or bruise, even the most sensitive.  Deerskin is the perfect warm-up flogger or light play flogger.  Delivers lots of noise and a thuddy sensation.

Elk

A step up from deerskin, elk is thicker, has more weight, more thud, and a distinctive spongy feel you’ll love to caress and smell.  The most scrumptious floggers you’ll want in your collection.  A good choice for a sensual warmup and cool down.  Elk is very similar to deer, yet because of it’s thickness, it’s also similar to an oil-tanned hide with the severity it can have.  A wide thick elk is much gentler, but a narrow thick elk can sting well.  The thud of elk is deep and penetrating in a wide blade width.  Elk is relatively safe for even the beginner, with lighter strokes.

Goatskin/Kidskin

Goatskin, otherwise known as kidskin, is extremely soft and supple, fine grained and durable.  The skin has a beautiful pebble texture.  It is a perfect warmup for light play.  The sensation is much like deerskin but the leather is more tight grain.  Delivers a lot of noise and a mild thudy, slappy sensation yet sensually seductive.  Comparible to deerskin or elk in sensation, goat is a step up in sting.

Cowhide

Lightweight cowhide is heavier and a bit harder than deerskin, producing a bit more sting than thud, especially when swung hard. Even when used lightly, this flogger's tails are heavy enough that you can feel a bit of sting.  The black cowhide usec for floggers is a (3-4 oz) chrome tan with good flexibility and density.  Bovine is a top quality leather that is tanned for softness.  This leather makes nice all over the body floggers.  Range and variety of sensation from light to medium sting and thud combined.

Buffalo/Bison

Bison produces a deep thud.  Bison leather is excellent for delivering a good solid thuddy sensation, heavier than bovine and perfect for those who crave more intense erotic sensation.  The thick leather has a beautiful pebble texture, flexible temper and exotic leather smell.  When used with more power, a stinging sensation comes in to play.

Bull Hide

Bullhide is makes for an intense thud and a stingy sensation.  Bullhide is the industry term for thick, chrome-tanned bovine leather from fully developed adult animals. The actual gender of the beast is not guaranteed. Bullhide is primarily used for the tresses of thumpy floggers and occasionally as a paddle covering.

Oil Tanned

Can be thud or a heavy sting.  Oil tanned leather feels moist to the touch, heavy weight, shiny smooth surface with harder edges.  This leather does not break down and is one of the best for long repeated impact.  The floggers are weighty and stingy.  Oil tanned is similar to latigo, except that it isn’t hot stuffed with waxes.  This usually keeps it a suppler hide.

Kangaroo

This leather when correctly tanned is far superior to any other known leather in respect to lateral strength, flexibility, appearance and scuff resistance.  Strong, thin and firm, Kangaroo hide is the ideal material for making lace for braiding. For this reason it is the preferred material for single-tail whip makers and prized for decorative work as well. It is not, however, the only useful braiding leather.  They sting and they bite but oh they can be so gentle when you want them to be.  Kangaroo is a noisy leather and these whips whistle an intimidating sound as they sail through the air with great speed.

Latigo

For very heavy play latigo produces an intense sting with very little effort.  Latigo is very severe when made into whips or floggers.  This is definitely an impliment that should be used after much practice on an inanimate object.  Many people are even unable to work up to or into the severity of this type of leather.  Latigo is one of the most severe leathers on a flogger more so until you have the leather “broken in”.  It’s ridged with hard, sharp, edges that lead way for impressive stripes and welting.  Experienced players will love the stinging sensation with little effort on the Top’s part.  The leather does soften a bit with age and use.

Horsehair

Horsehair can be used for a sensuous feel or can be very severe, it also gives a scratching sensation; this flogger can and will draw blood if used heavy.  Draw it sensually over the skin…..or hit with it and feel the sting! But be careful, the individual hairs have microscopic barbs that can actually break skin. Horsehair is a good warmup whip for a medium to heavy whipping scene.  Makes a sweet swishing sound as it sails through the air.  Delivers a stingy abrasive sensation you will have a love/hate relationship with.  You can’t stand anymore but please don’t stop.
